Re: 3 Robot Project - ALL DONE ALMOST

Try just using one wheel on your caster. This will eliminate a good bit of the drag you are seeing. With one wheel, the drag shouldn't disturb your vehicle's heading as much. You could be tricky and use a spherical roller or an omni wheel instead, (...) (24 years ago, 6-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Cheshire LEGOFest pictures

(...) Ok, here is the scoop; it is the control box and transmitter for a radio control system custom built by John Barnes, a frequent poster on lugnet.robotics, which he sent to me just after Christmas. It really makes a big difference to models for (...) (24 years ago, 6-Mar-01, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

Re: 3 Robot Project - ALL DONE ALMOST

(...) use a 'glider' instead. (One of those black 2x2 stud inverted dome thingies). They slide quite well over smooth surfaces. Maybe even less friction than the pivot wheel. But mainly, they slide equally well in all directions, so no problems with (...) (24 years ago, 6-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

3 Robot Project - ALL DONE ALMOST

I'm just about done with my 3 robot project but have one last problem. I've posted before and have taken people's advise on building this project but alas I have one last barrier before I can present this at work for our Bring a Child to Work Day (...) (24 years ago, 6-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Motor control ic

(...) Look really carefully at where the metal contacts are on the studs of the RCX and cable ends. You'll probably have to draw a picture of it to get your head around it. It's really quite clever. However, electrically, there isn't anything (...) (24 years ago, 4-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Motor control ic

Hello all, Can anyone tell which controller ic I can use best for the lego 9v motors. And can someone tell me how lego manages it that if you connect your motor wrong (90deg) It still works. Altrought I think it will short-circuit the rcx. With kind (...) (24 years ago, 4-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Bug in RCX 2.0 beta (Was: RIS 2.0 software now in beta)

Dear all, I have managed to pin down the problem a bit further. Please look at the following program: program foo { const c10 = 10 main { forever {} } task test { local v2f local v2e local v2d v2f = 1 v2e = 2 v2d = v2e * c10 } } If you download this (...)   Bug in RCX 2.0 beta (Was: RIS 2.0 software now in beta)

Dear all, I'm experiencing a strange phenomenon in my MindScript program which I believe to be a bug, where within a task the assignment of a multiplication of a local variable (containing value 0) and a constant (set to 10) to a second local (...)   Re: What AC adapter to use for RIS 1.0?

(...) A follow-up to my follow-up: I *think* possibly/maybe/hopefully I've found the source of the ELEX10204B chips, or at least a drop-in replacement. The part I've found is the MELEXIS MLX10402. This is also a 16 pin SOIC and, based on a pinout (...) (24 years ago, 3-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

For those awaiting new shipments of RIS ?.?

This is mainly of interest to those who were trying to take advantage of Future Shops RIS 50% off sale in January but found they were out of stock, but it might also bode well for those waiting for RIS's to re-appear in stores everywhere. When the (...) (24 years ago, 2-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Excellent instructions! Thank you. I printed out the instructions and gave them to my seven year old son. He had a great time putting it together and after dinner we had Gonsuke walking on our dining table. Gus (24 years ago, 2-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: How big is too big? OR How the RCX Firmware Stores Manages Program Memory

Tom's understanding is correct. All RCX programs are allocated from the same memory space. The RCX firmware provides "garbage collection" on this memory space so that whenever a program or subroutine is deleted, all programs/subroutines in higher (...) (24 years ago, 1-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)
