  IR Tower problems

I recently purchased an IR tower to use with my Scout. It did not come with a cable, but the tower was only 6$(www.eblok.com), so I found a cable that could plug into the back of it. The other end of the cable fit into the printer plug on the back (...) (25 years ago, 21-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Beta Release of MacNQC

Hi all, I have been working on an updated version of MacNQC and am now ready for a public beta. If you are interested in it, it can be found at (URL). There are some new windows to control the RCX and the compile has been updated to NQC 2.2r2. Rob (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Palmpilot and RCX

(...) I've just read that version 1.2 of the program will have a programmers interface. Would this allow NQC to be ported to it and be useable for Downloading Firmware, Uploading programs and sending msg codes? With a Visor Platinum would I be (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Gearing down a lego motor

Hi, Before I invest a lot of time on this, what is the minimal gearing I need to do in order for a Lego motor to let itself up. How about a lego motor lifting itself and another motor up? I want the motor to be powerful but at the same time fast... (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: adder-subtractor ????

Could you give some directive to the maximum size of it in 'bricks'? It would be a challenge to make a small adder-subtracter with a small basis, although it would probably mean that it will become a little higher than usual. Jeroen. ___...___ Visit (...)   Re: adder-subtractor update

Your adder-subtracter looks a lot like my model which I have placed on my website a few months ago. If anyone is interested, you can find step-by-step building instructions on my site, under the Lego Technic-link (URL) Stap ___...___ Visit my (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Palmpilot and RCX

Maybe we could just convince someone (Charlie, perhaps) to come up with a Lego IR Tower Springboard module for the Visor?! -----Original Message----- From: Martin [mailto:martin@mediax.com] Sent: Friday, January 19, 2001 2:11 PM To: Dean Husby Cc: (...)   Re: Palmpilot and RCX

(...) It hardly seems necessary, and frankly there's probably not enough of a market to actually go through the R&D phase. It should be quite possible to do IR communication with the RCX/Scout/What have you via Palm IR and/or Omniremote IR. (25 years ago, 20-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Palmpilot and RCX

(...) No, at least not yet. Charlie has discussed with me the *possibility* of developing a library that other people could use to do IR communication via the omniremote hardware. This would allow porting NQC to the Palm in a meaningful way. (...) (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Palmpilot and RCX

(...) I'm looking at getting a Visor unit. But it depends on what it can do. Can it use NQC and upload firmware/programs etc? My other main use would be a remote that can send messages up to 255. (...) Can you post some URL's on this info? Thanks (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: RCX Firmware (was: Remote dead, what to do?)

(...) Correct, there is a 16k ROM chip in the RCX that holds the built in functions and code programing code. (For uploading firmware in the first place etc.) Once the firmware is loaded it takes over most of the functions of the 16k ROM. That's in (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Palmpilot and RCX

(...) This doesn't always have a low range; Palm V IR and Palm Pro w/2MB upgrade IR are both fairly strong. On other models, yes, the range sucks. Also, there is a omniremote module for the handspring visor which has a very high power IR LED on it. (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Scanner / Terrain Modeller?

I, personally, would take some sort or range sensor and pass it over the model in a grid fashon. You could then take that data into a computer and wouldn't require you to have a camera. I can provide help if you want it. This might be somewhat (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Palmpilot and RCX

It is possible, but the IR transceiver in most Palms is too weak to control the device from over ~2 feet away. Most people have success with using a Palm i neither of two ways: 1.) Use the serial port to connect to the IR tower. Advantages: full (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Scanner / Terrain Modeller?
