RE: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

(...) Don't worry too much about this. It seems like typical marketing blather and probably won't affect that actual bricks too much. It's probably going to affect games and software, as well as shared web content. Now, if I was Michael Lachmann, (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

I'm glad I finally got my 1.5 version RIS this year. When the MS "enhanced" 2.0 kit arrives, my robots will act like brain-dead zombies, bashing into skirting boards and inexplicably locking up every five minutes. Now they'll have to invent a (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: servo motors...

(...) That's what I was afraid of... I'm aware of those three tipes of motors, and I'am trying to acopolate an encoder to Mindstorm motor... but if there were any servos it would be easy...   Re: servo motors...

(...) There are only (AFAIK) three Lego motors - the puny "Micromotor", the old Technics motor and the modern Technics/Mindstorms motor. The Mindstorms motor is clearly better than either of the other two (unless you are very short of space or (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

Oh no! This is very very bad. Any good will one may direct toward Lego and its products certainly won't be redirected toward Microsoft, at least as far as I am concerned. If and when Lego becomes a small satellite of Microsoft's, it'll all be over (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Hammacher/Future Shop Blowout of RIS

(...) I called the 1-888-785-8384 number listd on the Contact page of the website and spoke to someone named Gabriel. He was very helpful, and agreed to the price protection without any special effort from me. As mentioned, all I had to do was fax (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Robot Idea (been done before?)

That's a 'plotter' input device you're descibing - it used to be quite a popular input device for CAD (and I think still is at the high end of the market), but for general use, the mouse has replaced it. I remember building something similar for my (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics)

  Positioning VIA 5th Wheel

I worked on a robotics project in which my program controlled a very big (18,000 pounds) piece of equipment and need to know its position. It was used for railroad track maintenance and road on the tracks. Even though this was a one dimensional (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Elimating the need for the IR tower

(...) What I'm wondering, is could the timer circuit be eliminated? From previous posts, I know a lot of people would like to have their towers ready to recieve at any time, without it shutting down from lack of activity. People have been adding to (...)
