  Robotics Competitions / Contests online

Hello Folks, It has been a while since I participated here (my brick collection was flooded last winter!) and I am glad to see the community is even more active than I remember. One of the activities I enjoyed most last year was participating in (...) (25 years ago, 31-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RCX Blowed up?

(...) Is the battery in your IR tower okay? I don't know what the chances are, but you might want to check that before getting a new RCX. -Kekoa (25 years ago, 31-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: >>> RIS vs. RDS <<<

  RCX Blowed up?

Today I was using NQC for the first time using RCX Command Center. Because I have a 1.0 RCX I thought: I have two original Lego-adapters and why shouldn't I use one? So, for the first time I have the RCX, I used a powersuply. After some playing I (...) (25 years ago, 31-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Recommendation for a robotics set.

DDK(Droid Developer Kit), DSDK(Dark Side Developer Kit), RDS(Robotics Discovery Set) then RIS(Robotics Invention System), you can buy them in eBay or your local toy shop. DDK and DSDK use Micro-Scout, RDS uses Scout and RIS uses RCX You can refer (...) (25 years ago, 31-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  >>> RIS vs. RDS <<<

Hi, what's the diference between RIS and RDS ? Thanx. Norbert (25 years ago, 31-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Increase RCX outputs.

I expanded the RCX outputs from 3 to 12 (6 sets of 2)using 2 rotary switches and one feedback POT (50k ohm). The 3rd RCX output is used to to energize a motor that rotates both rotary switches and the pot simultaneously( they are mechanically liked (...) (25 years ago, 31-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RCX2

Bill, If you go to (URL) then follow the 'Tips and Tricks' link, the RCX2 beta SDK is under the 'Master Coders' section. A quick quote from the site: <quote> RCX 2.0 BETA SDK Since we made a few small changes and additions to the firmware after we (...) (25 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Why 2 robotics newsgroups?

[followups to lugnet.admin.nntp] (...) Well, actually, there's only one lugnet.robotics newsgroup. It does has subgroups, however, so perhaps that is what you were seeing? At any rate, the first URL you gave above (well, partial URL -- it's missing (...) (25 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: Rant

One point that hasn't been mentioned in all the foregoing discussions about Lego's direction with the new Technic sets is what I think must be of vital concern to them and that is "critical pieces". Especially these days, now it's so easy to (...) (25 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RCX2

Hi, I'm interested in RCX2 firmware. Is it something that can be downloaded? What capabilities does it have? TIA, Bill Weiss Senior Software Developer ASSET InterTech, Inc. bweiss@asset-intertech.com (25 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Why 2 robotics newsgroups?

Does anyone know why there are two groups: www.lugnet.com/robotics/ and www.news.lugnet.com/robotics/? Are they the same? If so, why are the posted notes not the same in both? Is a puzzlement... Jerry (25 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: specific pieces...

Try Baylit ((URL) ) or Brickbay ((URL) ) or Sanburn Systems ((URL) ). These three are non-auction bricksellers. I haven't bought from them myself, but heard good stories about them.   specific pieces...

I would like to order some specific lego pieces (I don't want to purchase an entire set). Does anyone know of a good on-line source for this?? Thanks, jim (25 years ago, 29-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: First Internet Robot Contest

Steve's "First Internet Robot Contest" has nothing to do with FIRST, the organization formerly known as "US FIRST," which is presently cooperating with LEGO in the "FIRST LEGO League" (FLL).   Recommendation for a robotics set.

Hi all, I am new to Lego, but from what I have seen and read in the newsgroup it seems an easy way to have some fun with robotics. I am getting a HandyBoard as a brain and I wonder which is the best set to get started, something with lots of gears, (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)
