Hello Folks,
It has been a while since I participated here (my brick collection was
flooded last winter!) and I am glad to see the community is even more active
than I remember. One of the activities I enjoyed most last year was
participating in contest and competitions. Not only did they provide great
ideas for building robotics projects, the submissions always taught me a
thing or two.
As I am getting back into the swing of things, I have found several
competitions scattered around the net, some sponsored by LUG's, some by
universities and others by TLG itself. What I did not find was some sort of
central contest repository.
What I imagine is a website that will:
-accept suggestions for contests
-facilitate a short discussion on the merits/rules/conditions of submitted
contsts
-accept entries (robots) for the contests during the contest period
-Determine a winner based on time/points/etc.
-Maintain an archive of contests/entries (this may be esp. useful for
educators that need suggestions for class activities)
Initially the contests would be challenge-like and score-at-home, but if the
geography was right and demand was high, there could be actual competitions
involving a real life get together with multi-robot competitions.
I have the expertise to build and run the site, would love to participate in
such a site, and I am pretty sure I have the time. Now the questions: Is
this already being done? Is anyone interested in this sort of website?
Any feedback would be welcome
Richard
