Well, actually, there's only one lugnet.robotics newsgroup. It does has
subgroups, however, so perhaps that is what you were seeing?
At any rate, the first URL you gave above (well, partial URL -- it's missing
the http: prefix :-) is the old URL of the lugnet.robotics newsgroup before
the www->news move over the summer[1]:
http://www.lugnet.com/robotics/
At some point, the old URLs of the groups will auto-forward to the new URLs,
but for now, the groups' entry pages are still served at both places.
The second URL that you listed above doesn't use a valid subdomain (there is
no www.news.lugnet.com) but I assume that what you really meant was this?--
http://news.lugnet.com/robotics/
That's the "correct" URL for the lugnet.robotics group when viewed via HTTP.
Another URL for it -- using direct NNTP -- is this:
news://lugnet.com/lugnet.robotics
