Can anyone help identify a tyre?

There is a large rubber tyre about 1 3/4 inches diameter which comes with the Mindstorms stuff. Its a solid tyre and even though there's a lot of rubber, it's is fairly narrow and fits on the small sized yellow hubs. What I want to know is if there (...)   Making temporary lines on floors

Are there any good ways to produce TEMPORARY markings on large areas of floor surface (mainly carpet, some linoleum) suitable for line following robots, etc.? Someone suggested masking tape, but that wouldn't be good for long term usage (leaves (...) (25 years ago, 18-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Purchasing RCX...Which Version?

Neither the Cybermaster box or the unit itself shows any evidence of the unit having FCC approvals. Unless they change this, which I doubt because it's an older product, I don't think it will ever be officially available in the US. Randall (...) (25 years ago, 18-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Purchasing RCX...Which Version?

Eric, I've noticed that some of the TRUs around here (Cleveland, Ohio) still have both versions on their shelf, and the 1.0 has a big sticker on it saying that you can get the software upgrade free. The main difference is that 1.0 has the power (...) (25 years ago, 18-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.market.shopping)

  Re: Purchasing RCX...Which Version?

You can get 1.0 and 1.5 systems on ebay, but there is some risk and the prices are amazingly high (80-95% of retail). There is not that much difference between the 1.0 and 1.5 kits, and I recommend the latest release, because half of it is a (...)   Re: Purchasing RCX...Which Version?

I think I can answer all of these. I'll make down what I'm not certain about, and my fellow list members can correct me as need be. 1. The only significant difference between the 1.0 and the 1.5 is the AC port, which the 1.0 has, but the 1.5 lacks. (...) (25 years ago, 18-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Purchasing RCX...Which Version?

I have a similar question to Tim's. I'm finally gonna buy a Mindstorm's Invention Kit. Is it possible to find 1.0 RCX still? Where can the best deals on Invention Systems be found? thanx, eric (...) (25 years ago, 18-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.market.shopping)

  Purchasing RCX...Which Version?

Hello, Everyone: I'm interested in purchasing an RCX, but from what I've read the 1.0 is a lot better than the 1.5 (and since they're still giving the upgrade kits free, what's the difference?). Can anyone explain the differences between the 1.0 and (...) (25 years ago, 17-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Solenoid Pneumatic Valve

Hi Everyone: Chris Mango has put a couple of pictures on his web site if anyone is interested in seeing the teeny valve assembly. Thanks Chris. (URL) additional information for those who are curious....It's from a Parker Hannifin division called (...) (25 years ago, 17-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: My simple pneumatic switch

Remember that this holds most of the pneumatic stuff that does not move. If you only need one switch, then IMHO it is a very good switch/base. For more switches though, it could get a tad bulky. Andy (...) (25 years ago, 15-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: My simple pneumatic switch

(...) What a horrific amount of work to get ONE switch to 'switch'. Ugg... I think I'll have to look into them Fishertecnic electronic ones. Anyone have an update?   Old & New Motors: work output comparison???

It's CRANE TIME ast Elwood & Bubbas' workshop. After a two year - hiatus, E & B are back at the drawing board, hard at work on their biggest crane ever.   Solenoid Pnuematic Valve

I have finally found a tiny solenoid valve for use with the RCX. It fits into a 2x4 stud brick, and runs off one of the motor outputs. All I had to add was a resistor, a zener (the valve runs on 3 VDC), and a diode (reverse voltage stop). It's (...) (25 years ago, 15-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)
