Hi

I've been the working in making a flexible bumper using only one switch for
my CyberMaster and after constructing about 4 or 5 prototypes I've found out
that after all I don't know how to make a decent
flexible-and-with-lots-of-travel bumper.

You might try a cross connected pair of small pneumatics cylinders.
compression of one will actuate the other and trigger the sensor.  The small
cylinders have a decent throw distance, will provide increasing resistance
(to impact) with compression.  The big advantage is being able to place the
sensor in a convenient location.  You can easily set up the cylinder system
to be its own reset mechanism (the bumper will return to the un-triggered
position)

Since it seems bumpers are one of those things everybody needs and
LEGO has forgotten to create.

Oh they've created them... the just didn't give the instructions.  ;-)
