Re: Why [no single language] is good for Mindstorms

(...) Hey! I use Linux every day and I don't use X as a GUI. And I program 8 hours a day all within vi. I will admit that I may not be the typical mindstorms programmer. In the end it really comes down to what folks are most comfortable with. In my (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Question Burst

(...) Brian missed a method that worked for me. I put a 14 long lift arm on an RC Buggy motor and created a feed mechanism to put in one ball at a time. The resulting distance was about 25-30 feet. Ultimately, Steve threatened me with the addition (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Question Burst

(...) Well, there's a few methods that have been tried. The first was just to have two closely-spaced wheels spinning rapidly - when a ball falls between them, it's shot out. This seems to require heavy wheels and RC motors (gear motors have been (...) (20 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Using NXT in a name - legal?

I was wondering if there is anyone from Lego or someone well versed in legalese that can tell me if it's ok to use 'NXT' in an open source project name? e.g. "leJOS NXT" (20 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Why [no single language] is good for Mindstorms

(...) Ahem, I'm using debian right now as a server, and haven't even installed a graphical interface on it. And yes, I regularly have to go delve into config files etc with vi. (...) In fact I did exactly that with LegOS (as it was then) and NQC for (...) (20 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I bought a bunch of them for a flocking project and have been generally pleased w/the purchase. However if cost is an issue, you can make your own from these: (URL) (20 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Why [no single language] is good for Mindstorms

(...) Linux isn't a language. It's an operating system. And nobody I know uses Linux without a graphical user interface. And nobody I know programs in text-based languages at a OS command prompt using VI. Do people write posts to Lugnet by dragging (...) (20 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi Andrew, Im sure other people will be able to fill in with more information, but I might be able to point you in a few directions. (...) WOW, nice wheels. I do not own any, but they sure do look spiffy. if your OK with non lego pure, these might (...) (20 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Why [no single language] is good for Mindstorms

(...) The RIS v2.0 software actually DID save files in "Mindscript", which is a text language. I suspect they won't go that direction again, because it just wasn't that popular. (...) ... (...) Sorry if I wasn't clear. TLG must provide FIRMWARE (...) (20 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: This sounds a lot like NXT

(...) There's quite an important difference in that the Xport uses a user-programmable FPGA for its more important processing. That means you're free to write highly parallel behaviours essentially in hardware, not limited to the CPU. These chips (...) (20 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)
