Re: Why java is bad for Mindstorms

Hi Kevin, (...) Hm, you got me:) Nqc is fantastic. But the success comes from the fact that you get an easy and elegant to use visual interface and can stand as close as possible to the original, unaltered system. (...) I didn't know it is online. I (...) (20 years ago, 22-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  NXT expansion sets

I was thinking about what TLG would put in NXT expansion packs, and the coolest thing I could think of was an all in one compressor/valve, which could also tell you current air pressure. Sounds doable. After all one of the problems with the RIS is (...) (20 years ago, 22-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: How many people signed up for the NXT Developer's Program?

(...) Sorry to jump into this thread late -- I was out of town the last couple of days attending a funeral. I coach a First Lego League team, and teach robotics to kids using Mindstorms. I'd like to find out how the NXT system will affect these (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: The LAST post (hopefully) about Java and the NXT

(...) It depends what you mean by "support". If you mean provide information for a 3rd party to develop and maintain a Java runtime for the brick then I agree totally! But if you mean actually do the development, or fund it it some way, I disagree. (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

The LAST post (hopefully) about Java and the NXT

Look, There's been a pretty heated debate about support for Java on the NXT. All we're asking for is TLG to support Java **in addition to** whatever GUI/Labview programming environment that will be used for the general masses out there. I think that (...)   Re: What to do if not selected for the NXT Developer's Program?

(...) I wouldn't say requires less. What about the wings, eyeballs, toenails (See the dinosaur models) and other things are are stud based. Not everyone wants to build wireframe exoskeletons - My four year old likes his bricks! But if there are (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: new Mindstorms servos?

(...) From the rec.toys.lego Frequently Asked Questions: The LEGO motto: Det bedste er ikke for godt. (Only the best is good enough.) Actually a word-by-word translation would be, "The best is not too good" - in which "not too good" parses nicely (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Why java is bad for Mindstorms

(...) Hi Michael, While I agree with much of what your argue above, I disagree with your conclusion. The better the official language for NXT, the more diverse the users and universal the solutions. Better the language the more people can play with (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Why java is bad for Mindstorms

Let's face ist: LEGO wants to sell Mindstorms units. And they want to sell it to the illiterate customer. Now imagine how things where at the old Mindstorms: We opened the box, piled out the brick, installed the programs on our PC and found, that (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)
