For anyone interested... I picked up a few 3VDC laser pointer modules from RadioShack recently for less than $10.00 each. The module is RS#277-1101. Here is a link to a picture of it next to a 2x4 brick. (URL) is a link to the PDF file for the (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

And, you'll probably hate my reply... "Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should." Yes, I remember. I did save a search on Laser PEN's on eBay because of that :) I planned to use video image analysis (er... machine/robotic vision) to keep track of (and measure) the reflection of laser line on objects. I say LINE and not DOT (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Years ago, there was a thread about hooking up lasers to the RCX and using then for signaling and proximity sensing. Aside from the dire warnings (Don't blind the cat!), does anybody remember this thread? I've recently come into ownership of a few (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Dean Thanks for the description of your course. I sure hope your students are up to it - there's a lot there for anyone to learn. Presumably they'll all be mechanically competent, just unused to Lego. I can think of several friends who, after your (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

you'll probably hate me for being a nitpicker.... (...) technically, you should not do any bitshifting at all.
