(...) HB experts, correct me if I'm wrong, but if someone wanted to use an LCD bigger than 2x16, wouldn't the pcode have to be recompiled? I know that in the pcode.asm file there is reference to displays up to 2x80 (of which I have 4 and none work (...) (29 years ago, 12-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

 | | Servo

Does anyone know how to activate the servo on HandyBoard with IC? (I am going to use the Polaroid Sonar Ranger when it gets here.) When I try to load 'Servo.C', the supplied program, I get 6 or 8 errors of unassigned lables. I assume that (...) (29 years ago, 12-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) You need to do a 'load servo.icb' before you do the 'load servo.c' command. The .icb file contains the code described in the servo.asm file, in a binary format. The code in the servo.asm file does the actual work of running the servo output. (...) (29 years ago, 12-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

 | | h-bridges, current info
|

I'm trying to figure out a couple things. First, can four NPN transistors be used to form an h-bridge? I was looking in a book, the Robot Builder's Bonanza, which features a circuit which uses four TIP41 transistors. However, don't most h-bridges (...) I would like to add range-finding of some description to my robot project. I would prefer to make it as cheap as possible. I have heard of the various polaroid-based schemes, but these all sound as though they are $90+ solutions. Does it have to be (...) (29 years ago, 12-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) the fuse is rated for about 2.5A continuous. If that is not enough, get one rated for more current, or replace it with a wire and make sure not to short out the nicads, or you'll get 30 to 40 A flowing. -F (29 years ago, 13-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Has anyone figured out how to monitor the battery level on an HB1.2? I would like to be able to use a circuit similar to the one published in the Jones Mobile Robots book, but it connects output directly to an analog port and is confused by the (...) Want to use motors of different voltage than the 9V required by HandyBoard? Then read this. I had decided to use converted Servo's as wheel drives, and they want about 4.8V. In studing the diagram and board layout I discovered that the HB batterys (...) (29 years ago, 13-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
