I would like to add range-finding of some description to my robot project.

I would prefer to make it as cheap as possible.  I have heard of the various
polaroid-based schemes, but these all sound as though they are $90+
solutions.  Does it have to be this expensive?

Can anyone summarize the various options?

I looked arround and this is the cheapestI've found so far. If you go to the various ultrasound specialists, they want an arm and a leg...make that your a torso too. I believe these polaroid things are manufactured in LARGE production conpared to (...) (28 years ago, 15-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
