  Light Sensor in Mindstorms

Could somebody explain in layman's terms how the light sensor works? Thanks! Bryan (26 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Light Sensor in Mindstorms

The sensor uses two semiconductor devices (that's as technical as I'll get, hopefully). One of them is light sensing and the other is light producing. The sensor works by sending out some light and then sensing how much of that light is reflected (...) (26 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Mindfest

(...) Per the advice of a previous post: (URL) should contact Suzanne Rich at the MIT Media Lab. Apparently they have some back door process whereby they can shoehorn latecomers in. Hope it works out. :) The full text of the post: In (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  LM35 Again

Hi, I have been trying again to connect the LM35 temp. sensor (10mV/C) to one of the general-purpose Analog inputs (No pull-up), and I have no success, the result was the following: the analog( ) was 121, the equivalent aprox. to 250 C, obviously (...)   Re: Could somebody use this program?

Luis, The main problem is that I'm using the gnuwin32 environment instead of the cygwin (and I have lot of programs made with gnuwin32 so it's not wise either to port them to cygwin rather set up a secondary c/c++ environment). I was quite surprised (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Could somebody use this program?

I'm planning to release version 1.5 of MLCad soon, after that I would like to introduce some things like compatibility to LDLite. I think release 1.6 should be the point where I slow down basic developments on this thing except somebody wishes (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  R: R: Save arrays in VB5

Fantastic. All this time I believed it wrong. I checked and of course it's true, either on VB and on old QB. Thanks for that. Roberto -----Messaggio Originale----- Da: Joel Shafer <joel@connect.net> A: Roberto Amato <RobertoAmato@mclink.it> Cc: (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: HB for science project?

Date: Mon, 04 Oct 1999 10:00:02 -0600 (...) i have used a few PICs, but they have to be programmed in assembly language. but just recently i have found a compiler called C2C which converts C code into assembly code. C2C provides assembly code for (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Lubricating Cylinders

(...) Yeah. Apperently this one came from Denmark where thier headquarters is located. My question: If they are just going to e-mail me saying that they can reply yet, then why didn't they just send a reply to from Denmark. I mean it's just more (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Wes Matchett <wes@augustschell.com> wrote in message news:37FA8820.BA3709...ell.com... (...) I think it is a phototransistor. (...) You betcha. I don't know if it is layman enough, but there is a detailed description of the Light sensor at: (URL) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Rotary electrical coupling

It's interesting you mention this. I have also started to use RJ11 and RJ45 connectors in my constructions. It is a neat and compact way of routing 2, 4, 6, or 8 wires around. I am working out the most neat and compact way of stuffing them into a (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: Blue Air Tanks

I've used a very light aluminum air freshener can called OZUIM. It's about 7-8 inches in length and a little over an inch in diameter. My guess is it is about 3 to 4 times the internal volume of the blue tanks. By removing the spray nozzle and using (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

LEGO robotics dis'd in CACM Forum.

Howdy, Has anyone seen the October issue of Communications of the ACM? On page 13 is a letter critical of the recent article, "Using Autonomous Robotics to Teach Science and Engineering," that appeared in the June '99, page 85. The article is all (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Blue tanks

Lego shop at home has the sub discounted to $25.00. It's a deal! You get pneumatics stuff, including the blue tank, and a lot of other handy technic stuff like long yellow beams. JB (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Unfortunately, the sale expired on 30 September, IIRC. I don't know about S@H's policy on holding firm on such dates; might be worth a phone call to check on it. Cheers, Roger (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

BAH! (to the writer of the nasty letter in the ACM communications) If one but peruses the Robot Store catalog (www.robotstore.com)--which I actually use as a source of inspiration for Lego 'bot building, one will see that Lego is by far the least (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)
