How fast does it transfer data via USB? 120mb is a lot to move.

Dunno, but with an AC adapter it wouldn't really matter to me.  And 120mb
wouldn't take that long if it were transferred at anything approaching the
maximum of USB speeds.

I'm really happy with my new coolpix 950. It uses compact flash, which
currently goes up to 160mb. (And unlike smartmedia, you don't need to
upgrade your camera to use new bigger sizes when they come out.) And • really,
I'm able to get 60 high-quality 1600x1200 pictures on my 32MB card; more
than twice that at 1024x768.

Well, on my now really old Ricoh RDC-2 I get 101 pics at the maximum
quality/lowest compression setting on my 20mb compact flash card.  I didn't
know CF was up to 160mb - that is pretty cool.  Still, we're thinking of a
trip to Italy & Greece next year and what I would like to do is to be able
to take a high-res camera with me and all the storage I need in a bag,
without the need to bring a laptop along.  340mb microdrive sounds good, but
if the price/mb for CF at the 160mb level is competitive I'd just as soon go
with that.  Since this might well be the only trip we get to take of that
kind anytime real soon I'd rather go with highest quality/res all the time,
just in case I manage to take a really good picture once in a while.

(...) Hmm. I swear I saw that 160mb card just the other day, but can't find anyone selling it now. (I'll look more later...) The 128MB cards cost about $300. Maybe the thing to do is buy several. :) (25 years ago, 10-Sep-99, to lugnet.publish)
