  Re: Screen Resolution Poll

(...) Nah, that's not true -- font sizes are a good way to denote the relative importance of various bits of text. A legal disclaimer or copyright notice may be important, but conceptually, it's not the focus of the page, so it should be made (...) (25 years ago, 21-Aug-00, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Screen Resolution Poll

(...) Simple. Monitors are approximately 4x3, so the resolutions should be too. Otherwise, bitmapped pictures get stretched or squished -- in the case of 1280x1024, squished by about 7%. (...) CSS provides a great way to do this -- it has both (...) (25 years ago, 21-Aug-00, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Screen Resolution Poll

(...) Don't think so. For fine print on paper there is the (weak) excuse that one wants to save paper. This doesn't exist for the web. The main reason for fine print is of course that people don't won't you to read it, to screw you later if you make (...) (25 years ago, 21-Aug-00, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Screen Resolution Poll

(...) 'nuff said! I use mostly 1280x1024 and my Netscape is about two-thirds of the screen wide and as long as it can be. Works just fine. Ppl. complaining about to long rows, just narrow the browser a tad, problem solved. /Tobbe (25 years ago, 21-Aug-00, to lugnet.publish)

  Photo prints from digital images?

I'm looking for a good online source for getting photographic prints (i.e., 30+ year prints like you would get from a traditional photo finisher) from a digital camera. Ideally, I'd like to be able to upload my digital images, give someone a credit (...) (25 years ago, 21-Aug-00, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Screen Resolution Poll

(...) Yeah, it's a mess -- the original HTML just wasn't meant to specify presentation. CSS helps a bit. (...) Agreed. If you must specify font, make sure to also list "serif" or "sans-serif". (25 years ago, 20-Aug-00, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Screen Resolution Poll

(...) As another 1600x1200er (with small fonts - I've got good eyesight), I plead with web page developers to consider how their pages look on high resolution screens. Lugnet uses some fonts which come out a bit too small, which puts it in the (...) (25 years ago, 20-Aug-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

  Re: 2001 Set info

(...) Yeah. They were actually expecting this ruling. One advantage of having this before the Supreme Court is that any ruling will be effective nationally, not just in New York. (25 years ago, 20-Aug-00, to lugnet.publish)

Re: Picture piracy at www.lego.com: nothing happened at all...

(...) Jumping in late here, but I think it stinks. Did anyone manage to snap screenshots of the stolen images being displayed at their site before they wiped them out at the end of the month and started fresh with this month's stuff? IMHO, it would (...) (25 years ago, 20-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)
