Re: New website layout, what you think?

comments below (...) I'd be interested in knowing this. I'm happy with anything that is 100kb or less. But I'm an ex-cable modem and new dsl person, so I'd like to hear from the normal modem users. (...) I agree here, with a fast connect/reconnect (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: New website layout, what you think?

(...) Cool! (...) Well to be honest, I'm running through a T1 line, so I'm not an effective judge of download times. Perhaps when I get my 33.6 hooked up at home again... Personally, I don't mind waiting for a 83K page over the modem. (In fact, I (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: New website layout, what you think?

I like it, i like it! I have a sugestion though, on the edges of most of the images on the left are a little choppy on the edges where the lego meatss the black background. I was thinking a little use of the blur tool in photoshop or PSP would fix (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: New website layout, what you think?

Thanks for responding Jeremy. This is just a draft, or a sketch of the final layout. There will be text to help guide you to the various sub-pages that will appear under the large images. I'll also list some hard link text below so that those too (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: New website layout, what you think?

(...) I like the looks, except for the lack of text. Will the 1x3 slopes eventually swing up upon mouseover to reveal the text for the link? If so, please keep us non-Javascript folks in mind... I was going to raise the issue of bandwidth, but that (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

I will be computerless for about two weeks...

If anyone needs to contact me try: Eugwecoral@yahoo.com My computer has died and it will be at least two weeks before I can afford to fix it... :( Plus: I just moved to Columbia, TN (somewhat near Nashville) and Mindspring doesn't extend their reach (...)   New website layout, what you think?

I've posted my most recent webpage layout to get an idea of whether or not people like it. Let me know what you think and remember that this is just a draft, and none of the links work. (URL) J (25 years ago, 13-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Some craft (but sloppy) photo editing...

(URL) not exactly a clean super-impose. I used paint shop pro and some generic ocean photo. any software that works better? - Marc (25 years ago, 12-Jul-00, to lugnet.publish)

Re: I just finished two Cannon MOCs

Hi Bradley, Your cannons sound neat! Websites can be easily created for free in places like xoom.com or geocities.com, or (the best thing IMHO) just join lugnet (if you're not a member already) and use the awesome and easy-to-use FTX page editor (...)   Soft Opening of FunBrix.com

LEGO fans, It’s time to unveil my new concept “FunBrix” to all! The idea behind FunBrix is a one stop place on the web for fun, bricks, news, links and more. This is the place for people young and old, who like to collect, build, display and play (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jul-00, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

  Re: Kidvention: Printing Posters Troubleshooting

(...) That's what I've been doing to get it to fit in the page. I've done a few like that, but they print unevenly on the page (full image though) - printer problem, so they'll need to be trimmed some. Posters padded with white don't look that bad, (...)   Re: Kidvention: Printing Posters Troubleshooting

(...) Rather than cropping an edge of the image, I would suggest sampling the resolution down and padding the other edges with white in stead. That way, you don't loose any part of the original image. Fredrik (25 years ago, 9-Jul-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.events)

  Re: Kidvention: Printing Posters Troubleshooting

(...) Its continuous. (...) Dunno. (...) Update on the situation... Mike and I downloaded the manual for it off their site. The max printable width is 13.6", so that's why it cuts off. But, when you select 'center on paper' it offsets it up about (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jul-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.events)

Re: Grabbing the stuff after the ? in a URL

(...) You *really* should get your hands on the llama and camel books from O'Reilly -- they're definitely the best perl resources out there. But failing that, there's a lot of good information on (URL). Even some tutorials on CGI: CGI Made Really (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jul-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Grabbing the stuff after the ? in a URL

(...) I got an introductory book to cgi and perl at the library, and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it! Now I just need to learn the syntax for everything I want to do, so I'm still interested in that source :) --Bram Bram (...) (25 years ago, 8-Jul-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Kidvention: Printing Posters Troubleshooting

(...) How much RAM does the printer have for its image buffer? Does it rasterize a whole frame buffer once and then dump the whole image or does it rasterize the image incrementally in swaths? Does the printer pause for a few seconds every inch or (...) (25 years ago, 8-Jul-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.events)

Re: Grabbing the stuff after the ? in a URL

(...) sure, I could email you the script - it's really simple... The backend if just a bunch of text files, one for each set. This can be done with any cgi, no special configuration to apache needed :) Email me if you want the source. :) Dan (25 years ago, 8-Jul-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Grabbing the stuff after the ? in a URL

(...) Cool. Will that work with any cgi-bin, or do you need to configure the server somehow? What do you actually have in terms of a database? Could I take a look at the source code for those scripts? Thanks! --Bram Bram (...) (25 years ago, 8-Jul-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.off-topic.geek)
