If you're interested in popular opinion (which I must confess I seldom am
;-) I vote for the Gloire - it seems to me that the Brickish Navy could do
with some worthy rivals (Tony?).  At the moment there is only the Spanish.
Need I say more?

Ah theenk jou need tha Franch.

Actually, the reason for choosing _Gloire_ is that it's the first ironclad.  It
can't really use the fleur de lis, however, given that whole nasty 1789-1815
thing.  I hadn't thought about incorporation.  The other possibility was to
model a ship like the first one Alfred von Tirpitz served on in the
Franco-Prussian War, when the Prussian Navy was really nothing more than a
couple of little iron-hulled cruisers and some decrepit frigates.

I'm currently stuck halfway through the lower deck of his Brikannic
Majesty's frigate Floater. I'm steeling myself to buy a load of SW sets
for the brown 2x4s. I need at least 40.

I'm a little nervous about that name.  :)  Does it have...mast problems?

If it's ironclads you're after, I'll have to break out the crates of
black, *and* extend the royal dockyards.

I sense a challenge...or an arms race!  ;)  Of course, first I have to find the
time to do something other than sort, pack, and ship...

best

Lindsay
