  Re: The RTS Zavala Steamship-of-War

(...) Awesome work, Kurt. A great model of a vessel from an interesting but oft overlooked period. (Which is odd, because as you demonstrate, the length/width ratio of vessels was changing to a more LEGO-friendly one). Spotlighted! Cheers Richie (...)   Re: The RTS Zavala Steamship-of-War

(...) Thanks! (...) The RTS Zavala is approximately minifig scale, it's 1.2 feet per stud. (...) I worked on it off and on over the last 2 1/2 years. (...) The scale was set by the width of the hull center pieces with two rows of inverted slopes on (...) (16 years ago, 16-Dec-08, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

(...) snip (...) Oh I'm enjoying!! That's fantastic!! The detail is amazing! I'd love to see a vid of the pistons/paddle wheels! The back detail is perfectly done--I love it! Very nicely done! Dave K (16 years ago, 16-Dec-08, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

  Re: The RTS Zavala Steamship-of-War

(...) Wonderful job Kurt! Your scale is massive compared to the "set scale" of my shipbuilding. What was the build-time for this? I'm particularly impressed that you were able to base this on hull pieces and yet the scale still works. I too like the (...) (16 years ago, 16-Dec-08, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

The model is almost 4 1/2 feet long (1.36 meters) and it uses 13 hull center sections. Although called a schooner, the (...)   New 2009 sets at Lego Brand (was: New 2009 sets at Toys-R-Us!)

(...) The Lego brand store in Burlington, MA also has a few sets from the new pirate line as of this week. I happened to be in the area, decided to buy some Christmas gifts for my best friend's kids. Honest! I had no intention of spending more money (...) (16 years ago, 11-Dec-08, to lugnet.pirates)
