Hi guys I was inspired by this flying island: (URL) ...to make one of my own. I haven't built it yet due to space constraints, but I do have a few ideas floating around. ;-) Then I got to thinking I might want to try an airship to go along with it. (...) Joel, All of your work is fantastic and impressive. I'd like to hear more about how you built the maxifigs. Is it all trial-and-error freehand? I'd love to have one of those Spidermans. :) Corey www.brickitgood.com (20 years ago, 4-Jul-04, to lugnet.town, lugnet.starwars, lugnet.pirates)

(...) True. Although I made the hull as sturdy as I could, it still needs to be supported at both ends when I lift it (not often!), and even then still flexes somewhat. The main issue with pirate gaming isn't the strength, though, but the weight - (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jul-04, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) Har-Har! Seriously, Micheal, you don't have to be so hard on yourself :) Pick up a good book on sailing ships from the public library, or find some images on-line and give it a try. You might be pleasantly surprised on how well you do! Aaron (20 years ago, 1-Jul-04, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

These look nice. The first looks a bit square from above. I like the use of the wall panels on the 2nd one. That looks like it would be a good basis for a class 1 ship for the pirate game. Frank (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.pirates)
