  Re: Pirate fleets

(...) So far we've been playing the campaign game variant where folks start with a cutter. I've been doing some thinking about how to start with larger ships or get them into play faster. I like the additional role playing of the campaign game, but (...) (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Pirate fleets

No-- sadly I wasn't able to attend BrickFest. I've been lurking in the shadows for a few years now, but most of that time was spent overseas in Japan. While an excellent opportunity to build my collection, it was a bit of a drawback in terms of (...) (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Pirate fleets

(...) Well, we could try and find a place to play down here... If I didn't bring a lot of the other stuff, I could probably bring all the ships I would be likely to build. I've also thought about renting a minivan for the trip, especially if someone (...) (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) But what good is building all those ships if you can't get them all into your car? :) (...) I'm game. I'm kind of glad we didn't do it this fall, because this is the semester from Hades too. I expect that spring will be a lot better--or even (...) (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) One of these days I'll get all my ships built... I have at least one of each official LEGO set built plus a bunch of extras. (...) Well, we play at least once a year at Brickfest. We were talking about a Fall Piratefest but then I got involved (...) (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) You didn't go to BrickFest, did you...there's a bunch of us within about 3-4 hours' drive. (...) Woohoo! I'm always happy when someone new to the forum brings up the perennial pirate-fleet-size question. Just in time, too, for me to be getting (...) (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: 6289 vs 6290 What's the difference?

Hello, (...) Shooting cannon is one piece; although you can divide it into few smaller parts, but after that, the cannon will be useless :) (...) As far as I know, 6290 is unavaible in Europe. But I can be wrong, of course. Bye, (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Pirate fleets

Just a question, but how big are some of the pirate fleets out there? And is there anybody in the Washington DC area that wargames with ships ( Evil Stevie's pirate game? )? I'm up to about 30 some odd craft with 7 or so Schooner size or above. I (...) (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: 6289 vs 6290 What's the difference?

(...) Related question: Are shooting cannon one piece, two, or three? And if they're more than one, has the piece count simply been ported over to US sets (even though they're not printed on the Euro boxes)? Alternately, perhaps the way that (...) (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

Ahem: Smarty-pants Snarky Answer™ ahead! (...) I don't know if I could name them all; in the age of Pirates, *everyone* was pretty rank! Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week. LFB (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: 6289 vs 6290 What's the difference?

I just inventoried a MISB 6289 and a MISB 6290. The only difference (aside from different cloth used for the sails) was that the 6290 used a black 1 x 10 plate and a black 1 x 2 hinge plate with 2 fingers in place of the black 1 x 10 technic plate (...) (23 years ago, 3-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Ranks

(...) Hmm... this might depend on the era you're talking about. If you're talking about modern Navies, Rick's got it on the nose. If you're looking at the Age of Sail, things are a bit different... I'm not fully brished up on Royal Navy (...) (23 years ago, 3-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Ranks

(...) The ranking systems are basically the same for all navies around the world. You have two different 'classes', if you will, in a Navy: Officer and Enlisted. For the officers it goes like this (from lowest Officer rank to highest rank): Ensign (...) (23 years ago, 3-Nov-01, to lugnet.pirates)
