Hello, and I apologize in advance if this is a really dumb thing to be asking, but... I recently got ahold of one of those firing cannons, with the black plunger thingie on the rear end and the long spike in the barrel and all.. however, I can't (...) (24 years ago, 11-Oct-00, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Shooting cannons

(...) I am actually guessing this is NOT a firing cannon. There were a few early ones in the US that had the firing mechanism parts without the spring. In other words they were disabled. More recently those pieces have been removed and replaced with (...) (24 years ago, 11-Oct-00, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) is (...) This is one of the disabled cannons - they can be modified to shoot with the addition of a spring (some disassembly required). They were later replaced by the one-piece non-firing cannon. Bruce (24 years ago, 11-Oct-00, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Shooting cannons

What kind of spring is used? All this time, I thought just flicking the black piece of the cannon made it fire! Scott (...) (24 years ago, 13-Oct-00, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Shooting cannons

(...) Nope, there's a spring inside. Someone here did modify non-shooting cannon (the disabled variety, not the one-piece mould variety, naturally) to fire with a cut-down spring from a retractible ball-point pen. It's roughly the same diameter. (...) (24 years ago, 15-Oct-00, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) I've never had to 'undisable' one myself, so I really can't, but if you do a search through .pirates you should be able to find the old thread which tells you how. best LFB (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.pirates)
