Harold Flies! Worship my Photoshop Skilz!

(URL) Okay, okay, my Photoshop skilz rule Monaco, but that's about it. Actually, there is a little more to the story.... We at the TCLTC have a Thomas the Tank Engine area of our layout, and so when we found out that there were going to be a few new (...)   Re: Participating in the Batgirl meme

(...) To follow up on my earlier post, I've continued to work on a Batgirl theme. I've now finished four custom minifigs based on the character designs of other participants in the meme. As before, go (URL) to see the master list. First, here's my (...) (19 years ago, 17-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.minifigs, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Participating in the Batgirl meme

Hello everyone It's possible some of you have heard about the delightfully quirky "draw Batgirl" meme that started sweeping Livejournal on Friday 13 January. Essentially, inspired by artist Andi Watson's posting of some character sketches (of an (...)   The Dark Knight unveiled

Hello everyone With the recent announcement that Lego have purchased a license to create sets related to DC's character Batman, I was motivated to finally finish a minifig MOC that was started about five years ago - The Batman himself.   Re: modding the new IR trains

(...) More like 4x10x~4, or so we've heard, mainly to house the electronics. So, you could do a 4-wide body, so long as it's the same colour as the baseplate! Jason Railton (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

Re: modding the new IR trains

I believe that there is a rather large battery box cavity in the interior of the engine above the base plate. Whats nice is that you get to this cavity via the bottom of the train thru the hanging tank. So you have the 6x8 "tank" below, the IR (...)   Re: modding the new IR trains

(...) Might make your wheel spacing awkward, but a good idea. Has anyone tried this with a 9V BASIC motor?. (...) Just putting in some high-capacity NiMH batteries would extend the life from one charge. But, building in a charging socket and circuit (...)   Re: modding the new IR trains

Hi Ondrew, I can make a comment on two related posts here. (...) As I see it 4) and 7) are related since for me they both solve the same problem which is this: seven-wide trains are pretty much ruined by the 6x30 baseplate. Basically it's very (...)   modding the new IR trains

Hey all, Well there has been quite a bit of talk about modifying the yet to be released IR trains so i figured it might be a good idea to consolidate them into one thread. Here’s a little rundown of what I remember as well as my X-ACTO knife (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

Re: Modding plastic track to conducting track

(...) well speaking from experince the metal "c" channel does exist in the correct size and is avalable in lenghths of up to at least 3 ft. the main issue that someone would really have to contend with is the joints. creating that seemingly simple (...)   Re: Modding plastic track to conducting track

(...) I think the solution is to find some source for C channel metal that is the correct size for the rails. What you would be doing is finding something that is physically similar to the current metal covering. It might be possible to make a (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.parts.mod)

Re: Modding plastic track to conducting track

(...) Already done, I did some experiments using some of the old 4.5v track. (URL) ran metal foil tape on top of the platic rails. (URL) The tape is tin plated copper for use in stain glass. The train motor ran fine. And with the new plastic track I (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Modding plastic track to conducting track

(...) Well theoretically using conducting tape would work but reliability would be a huge issue. My guess would be that the tape would likely rub through within a hour or two. The other method of adding metal to the plastic is a little more (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jan-06, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.trains)

Modding plastic track to conducting track

Hi all, I'm curious what you part modders think about modifying the new plastic train track to allow it to conduct electricity. My thought was that you could use metallic conducting tape on top of the plastic tracks and make yourself a good (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jan-06, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.trains)
