Lame attempt at Morse Code news thingy.

I have put up a short meeting report on the NELUG home page
http://www.nelug.org/ .

Basically this was much like most of our general meetings where we sit and talk
about LEGO and non-LEGO topics for hours.  There were 6 of us in attendance.
We had pizza as usual and a few MOC's made the trip.  (Forgot the camera
sorry).

One somewhat significant item came up durring our discussion that had to do
with protecting NELUG and more specifically the www.nelug.org domain name from
some corporation or organization called "New England Lovers of Upchucked Goo"
or something that thinks they have some right to the NELUG name and
the nelug.org domain name.

We also wanted to put a little protection in place so that we can take a stand
if the NELUG logo or name is used without permission as the LUGENT Logo was.
So we decided to trademark the NELUG logo (Thats trademark with a "™" which is
free not a registered trademark "®" which is not).  So I have added a "™"
trademark symbol to the large NELUG logo at the top of every page in the NELUG
site.  I still have to add the symbol to the smaller logo and the buttons and
banners.  I also added a small disclaimer at the bottom of the home page that
reads as follows:

"NELUG™ and The NELUG Logo are trademarks of The New England LEGO® Users Group
and its members. All other text, images, and trademarks that appear under the
www.nelug.org domain are the properties of their respective owners."

It probably won't be an issue but if it is this should give us some limited
protection.

We also talked about having a cookout around the end of July or the begining of
August so look for more comming on that soon.

(...) Has someone actually been contacted with respect to this by a real company, or are you talking about a hypothetical situation? If the former is true, this is a fairly serious topc, and we should definitely talk about this seriously here on (...) (24 years ago, 8-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.us.nelug)
