Oh come now...30CP of that was for a healing ability which I threw in only
as an after thought (it's all Shaun's fault). *And* of the remaining 59 CP,
it was really 55 CP, since I costed him incorrectly! So while the green
dragon would have died with Dave's final attack (and I must say, thwarting
Dave's vicious attack has been completely worth all the ensuing ridicule),
he still would have been able to do everything else in the game. Flame on!
As for a general comment about this last game, it *was* supposed to be
something different. It was supposed to be a
large-army-the-world-is-at-stake kind of game. Any time you go to an
extreme, you most likely will uncover all kinds of issues. We did. But
that shouldn't prevent us from doing something like this again...we just
need to figure out what makes sense for us in this kind of context. We knew
there was only going to be at best a handful of turns. We at least
suspected magic would cause us grief (in the original thread of around 102
messages, a huge chunk of them dealt with how we were going to utilize magic
in one form or another). Now that we have that experience behind us we can
make adjustments for next time - and I really hope there is a next time
along these same lines. The important thing is that we don't lose sight of
the most important thing: having fun.
Too many rules can be every bit as annoying as ill defined ones, so its just
a matter of simplifying certain things and not allowing others. The more we
play and vary our games, the more we'll learn and the more fun I think we'll
ultimately have.
