Over the lunch hour today I met the Triangle area LEGO rep at the Raleigh
Zany-Brainy. A very nice lady by the name of Lisa. She covers all of the
large stores (Wal-Mart, Target, TRU, ZB, etc.) in the Triangle area. I told
her about the group of adults in the area and about our plans to display at
train shows in the area. She was intrigued by what we are doing so I asked
her if LEGO could provide any assistance. She didn't think she was
authorized to do anything but said she would discuss it with her manager
(based out of Atlanta). She only works for LEGO part time (it appears that
most of the reps are part time employees) so I don't know how much attention
she will give my request.
Some other interesting tidbits:
1) She doesn't have any visibility into next years product line although
she expects to receive catalogs shortly.
2) The top two sellers of LEGO in the Triangle are the Cary Wal-Mart and
the Cary TRU with the Cary Wal-Mart doing the most volume of any store
between here and Atlanta. This certainly explains why there is virtually
zero clearance at that Wal-Mart! She also mentioned that the Durham ZB is
one of their better stores.
3) I asked her for some posters and stuff and she said she will see what
she can do.
All for now - kind of quiet around here lately (in the NG), is everyone
building or something?
