I think , during WWI or WWII (I forget when the USA started mass producing
tanks) the workers at arsenals were told/ thought they were building water
tanks to supply the troops on the feilds. Thus the nickname tank came to
be. I think thats how it goes.

He thought that the "C" might be for Cruiser because some of the first fleet carriers were converted cruisers (converted due to the (...) (23 years ago, 6-Aug-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)
