I would actually agree with this suggestion. I would say that the drive
time to Carlsbad from the Orange County airport is about 50 minutes, but not
too much of that is apt to be high traffic.
Only about the first 5 miles from the airport tend to get jammed up. After
that, it is usually pretty free-flowing, especially if you can use the
carpool lanes. During the evening rush our, it can get a little jammed up
at the El Toro Y (about 10 miles south of the airport), but its usually not
too bad.
