Some people don't want the hassle of EBAY (sometimes you get a deal, but
most of the time, you lose out!) or are scared. I think this is a lot of
the reason why Brickbay prices (and prices people advertise on LUGNET) tend
to be significantly higher. You pay more, but you know you are going to get
what your bidding on. I personally am willing to pay even more if I can see
the goods in person, and get them immediately.
From another standpoint, I think you spent FAR more time researching the
rarity of elements, possible sources, etc than I did. I was saying "Hey -
If there's anyone out there that is willing to offer me X, then I'll part
with this." If I'm asking too much, then people simply won't buy. If I
don't wish to part with the set, then I'll keep it - otherwise, I'll try
again with a lower price. Its the beauty of supply and demand! :)
