A fun time was had by all;

Nice work! Thanks for sharing!

Sharing is the best part about Lego Train layouts, right?  If it was not fun no
clubs would do it.  We had a very good time and shared our building tips and
knowledge of Lego trains to more people than we can count.  I hope we will get
some new club members, too.

" Spatula City! We sell Spatulas... and that's all! " Too funny.

The idea for Spatula City, originated I think by Weird Al Yankovick in the
movie UHF, was created for a few reasons.  The first is because some of our
club members are not too crazy about the idea of having a Spamcake Diner;
Spatula City is LUCNY's trademark creation.  The second reason is because I
wanted a way to use all the hideous Orange Lego bricks I have been
accumulating.  The third reason is because it goes well with our A&W Root Beer
car-hop diner built by member John Rudy (who also helped with Spatula City).
The A&W diner is modeled after one that is still operating in Cortland, NY and
is a local landmark.  Sadly, it recently burned but is being re-built to open
next month (the real one, not the Lego one, that is).
Even though Spatula City is LUCNY's trademark creation, anyone is welcome to
copy it and use it for public shows.  I would consider it an honor if it were
copied.

Also why are the cement trucks dumping cement on the beach?

Our detail man John Rudy was not at this show.  That left all the detail work
for me to do.  I neglected to landscape the beach as planned--the palm trees
never made it out of the box they were packed in.  The beach was rather close
to the rest of our construction site and the cement truck ended up there
somehow.  Perhaps the driver was actually loading up sand to make a fresh batch
of concrete??

I don't recall a trailer park in a layout before, nice touch!

In fact, IndyLUG had a few mobile homes on display at their January show.  The
Tan and Brown one I built was modeled almost exactly after one built by them.
I had six different mobile homes in the park, but I guess they were not all
photographed.  The few rare Lego TV antennas I used would have made a few
people drool...

Can you post a .tdl or .jpg of your layout?

A Track Designer file was created during the show by Ed McGlynn -- he sent us
members out to count pieces of rail for him.  That should be available soon.

The layout was done on venue-provided 6-foot banquet tables and our total size
was 12 by 20 feet.  The Plexiglas barriers were completed just in time for this
show and because of them, our trains operated without trouble caused by little
fingers.  The expense was well worth the piece of mind and security they
provided.
