fer example, the last one i did--

Dan (always seems to be) twice as old as Mike

Mike was 5 years younger than Ben

Ben was 10 years younger than Dan

Solve for Ben (as the clue)

Ben = Dan - 10

Dan = Mike x 2

Mike = Ben - 5

So...

Ben = Dan - 10
Well, what does Dan =?--substitute...

Ben = (Mike x 2) - 10
Well, what does Mike =?--substitute

Ben = ((Ben - 5) x 2) -10

I think from here it goes:

Ben = (2(Ben) - 10) -10 (dave had an addition sign...)

Ben/2(Ben) = 20

1/2 Ben = 20

Ben = 40 .... ? (20 / 1/2)

.... DOH!

Ben = (2Ben + 10) -10

Then I ferget my basic algebra...

Grr!!!

Looking at it, the answer was 20 but I have no idea how to get there for high
school algebra was eons ago...
