    Re: Dinner? —Benjamin Medinets
(...) Dave....Calum got a nasty response from the general lugnet community that our "dinners" weren't exciting enough to post them in lugnet.announce or lugnet.events. Its compartmentalized dorkism to the extreme....maybe if there were photos of (...) (22 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

        Re: Dinner? —David Koudys
(...) Ben, I knew that Calum received a few responses questioning the validity of rtl Dinner postings in those groups. I was going for a slight tongue-in-cheek "Hey, I didn't *see* it in .announce (ha ha)"... maybe we could then open a dialogue with (...) (22 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

         Re: Dinner? —Richard Noeckel
(...) Oh, did somebody say astronomy! =) Is anyone else into Cosmology and Relativity Theory with an emphasis on Theoretical Physics!!! T’would be so cool to talk ‘string theory’ and the nature of ‘singularities’ with y'all. So off-topic, sorry, (...) (22 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

         Re: Dinner? —David Koudys
(...) Off topic in rtlToronto????? Say *that* ain't so!!!! We're more off-topic than lugnet.off-topic!! I'm an appreciator of the cosmos--went to the science store last year and bought a telescope to lookit the stars and the planets. Let me tell you (...)           Re: Dinner? —Matthias Jetleb
(...) Ironically, I was taking a long hard look at a Dobsonian (sp?) reflector last week - how much was yours if you don't mind me asking? (and where did you get it) Matthias Jetleb (22 years ago, 12-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

          Re: Dinner? —David Koudys
(...) Got it at that science store across from that big mall in Toronto (yorkdale i think) Epshom Science or something--they have a giant mock up of a telescope in the roof. my telescope cost 400 dollars, came with everything... stand, 2 lenses (...)           Re: Dinner? —Richard Noeckel
(...) (URL) Ross! A really great link, and the interview was so recent too! Lotsa neat stuff in there about the school. (The stuff about the Cambridge campus really reminds me of what J.D. Watson wrote about it in “The Double Helix”) [I want to (...) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

         Re: Dinner? —Matthias Jetleb
(...) We did talk about string theory a while back now and, IIRC, concluded that any string that resembles Lego string is OK. Matthias Jetleb (who shares your interset in cosmology and physics - the math just scares me) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

         Re: Dinner? —Calum Tsang
(...) (rimshot) Thanks folks, Matthias will be all week. Do try the fish, it's excellent! :) Calum (22 years ago, 12-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

        Re: Dinner? —Calum Tsang
(...) Actually, let's clarify this before it gets out of hand. I got a request from Dan Boger, not people in the community, to not post dinner announcements into lugnet.announce or events. And that's fine by me. It was not particularily nasty at (...) (22 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
