Straight from the top of Sony Tower in Tokyo comes this press release on a

Ivan,

This link has a video: All I can say is WOW!!!!  towards the beginning
of the video there is a close up of the hand, and you can see the
fingers move.

This is just too incredible to describe.  it makes for some interesting
lego inspiration.

The thing that bugs me is that the thing is supposed to cost the same as a
luxury car.  I dunno, given the choice between say a Lexus LS400 and a
dancing robot, I suspect I'd rather have the Lexus.

And what's with that slouch?!!  It's like he's a slacker robot.

But in all seriousness, I suspect these things will only really become
popular with normal regular people once they break a certain price point.
I'd pay $100 for a robot Aibo dog, but not $1500.  Jack Tramiel, CEO of
Commodore during the VIC20 and C64 heyday once said that $299 was the secret
price point for consumer electronics.  And to some degree, he's right-DVD's
recently got popular the year before-exactly when they dropped below $300 USD.

Calum

(...) Ya, but it cheaper then having children. I suspect I'd rather have the Robot. :-) Derek (23 years ago, 21-Mar-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
