The thing that bugs me is that the thing is supposed to cost the same as a
luxury car. I dunno, given the choice between say a Lexus LS400 and a
dancing robot, I suspect I'd rather have the Lexus.
And what's with that slouch?!! It's like he's a slacker robot.
But in all seriousness, I suspect these things will only really become
popular with normal regular people once they break a certain price point.
I'd pay $100 for a robot Aibo dog, but not $1500. Jack Tramiel, CEO of
Commodore during the VIC20 and C64 heyday once said that $299 was the secret
price point for consumer electronics. And to some degree, he's right-DVD's
recently got popular the year before-exactly when they dropped below $300 USD.
