  ProjectX thoughts and beyond

Hi everyone... Long time no post! Anyway, Over the Christmas holidays, I spent almost all of my time working on my ProjectX robot. I am quite happy with the results, but it surprised me how long it took to build. I now have a love/hate relationship (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) WELL, I'd go in. sure, I'd toss in 5 ot 10 bucks. What ever we do, it should be a low key kind of event. once you introduce prizes then the rule of engagement become a LOT more important. and you would need official impartial Judges. AND if I (...) (...) I think the idea of an entrance fee prevents (well discourages) the "lurkers" from participating. And it certainly discourages the less established robotic builders from entering also. But, on the other hand, I can see Rob's view.... spending (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) "lurkers" (...) Well instead of an entrance fee, that will discourage random wondering, why don't we have a 'contest participation fee'? Only people with competing robots should pay that 5-10 bucks. 3800 does sound like a nice idea! ummm... (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) well....I guess it doesn't matter to me since I am the "official scorekeeper", and I guess that would make me the most impartial person. That being said, a nice set like that would probably encourage the competitors to win by all means, (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: ProjectX thoughts and beyond

(...) Absolutely. There will NEVER be an audience fee for rtlToronto events. It's a hassle I don't want to deal with. But a contest participation fee, well, yeah, that actually would be kinda cute. Maybe a real informal thing, sort of like the (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) I'd put some money in too! (Assuming I can figure out how to actually build a WORKING robot.) Jeff VW Chris <---- See mine says something funny!!! :) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: ProjectX thoughts and beyond

Sorry for any misunderstanding I may have caused... I certainly didn't mean charging the audience anything, but when I said entrance fee, I meant the competitiors pay a small amount to enter, which goes towards the prize. (...) My thoughts exactly. (...) Back in rtl7, weren't you complaining you were sick of driving around? :) I wouldn't mind getting back to simpler challenges that are just simple plain fun.
