  Is it wrong?
 
Hi folks, I have a dumb question: Is it wrong, and by wrong, I mean, would it be unusual or looked down on, to have the roof of a building in a Town layout to be made of plexiglass or glass? If you feel like "cheating" and use non-lego items on it, that is fine...you are the maker.... just don't tell the kiddies looking at it, "that with enough bricks, (...) I would suggest making a hinged roof and propping it up to show viewers. Just laying a sheet of mylar or glass across the top doesn't add much visually and has exactly the same effect as either no roof at all or a propped one. I would definately (...) Sometimes the virtual glass concept works. Where you make all the frames like there is glass in them, but never put it in. So people are given the impression of it being a window even though there is no real lego glass piece that could fill in the (...) (23 years ago, 5-Nov-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Jason's building was a go kart factory, complete with assembly line and loading dock and test track, rather than a train station. It was on a train layout though! (...) Well, I looked into a piece of curved plexi at a ~50 cm radius and it's apparently very hard to do, beyond basic plexi bending. So I suspect I'll build it without, sort of like Derek's Imperial Shuttle. Calum (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
