Re: my monkey is hard......to build

(...) Wow! I'm glad there is another monkey in the works! It sounds like you are taking an entirely different approach than me. If you really need another RCX, I can lend you mine. My monkey doesn't need an RCX at all. I just use a battery box (...) (23 years ago, 21-Aug-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: my monkey is hard......to build

Im using the micromotors to power the claws, and pneumatics to extend the arms, and i only have one pneumatic switch. If i was allowed to use a microscout, i wouldnt need another rcx... (...) (23 years ago, 21-Aug-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: my monkey is hard......to build

(...) I'm really not sure about this..... I'd like a bit of input from the group on this. Seriously. this all started as an RCX event. its the reason we own them. would it be fair to enter a battery box robot?? should Rob be forced to use the rcx (...)   Re: my monkey is hard......to build

(...) Well, I am. I see no reason at all why I shouldn't be able to use a dumb battery box. Its a six aa box, so the weight should be essentially the same as an RCX. I say if anything I am giving myself a disadvatage, because my robot will not have (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: my monkey is hard......to build

(...) I agree with Rob-I don't see any reason why Rob CAN'T enter a 0 RCX model. We only say as many RCXs as you want, and zero I think is a valid number. (...) I would like to enter a pretty shape making turtle robot too. Calum (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: my monkey is hard......to build

(...) I don't really like doing "me too" posts, but you are right there isn't any rules that say, RCX has to be used.... it does say however, that alternate processing methods cannot be used... IE scout, mini-scouts, etc. (Multiple RCX's are (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: my monkey is hard......to build

(...) Well, if we're getting technical about the rules, shoot, sure, go ahead and use zero RCXes. Mind you, I took the following quote from the site: "At the the beginning of each round, both robots will be started via IR remote control so as not (...)   Re: my monkey is hard......to build

well, I'll give it one more day BUT it looks like from the VAST and over overwhelming replies to this thread that 90% of the train people think that its OK to use zero RCX's. if the microprocessor rule is going to be changed then I'd like to also (...)   Re: my monkey is hard......to build

(...) Okay, okay. Jeff you did make a valid point. I keep forgetting about that section in the rules. Why is it that you always perk up when the topic is rules? :) About starting without tipping/shaking, I promise I can do that when the robot starts (...)
