Re: Can game - can you handle carpeting?

I had a 3 finger gripper that I gave up on a few days ago. I decided not to enter if that idea didn't pan out. Tonight, Janey said that I had no choice but to build a bot. with her encouragement, I came up with plan 3.14. v2 At this time, I have a (...) (16 years ago, 9-Jan-09, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Can game - can you handle carpeting?

(...) Presumably, the cans could be placed in the field after the robots were positioned in their starting corners? And the rules do say "Each robot will start in one corner of the play area at a 45 degree angle". ...but I hear you. :) Are the cans (...) (16 years ago, 9-Jan-09, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Can game - can you handle carpeting?

(...) Yep, ditto. I also wondered what's to keep someone from pointing their robot at the heaviest can and pressing Run? (16 years ago, 8-Jan-09, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Can game - can you handle carpeting?

(...) I like how you worded that; I laughed out loud. :) I wonder if I'm not the only one who saw the original ruleset (or heard the concept) and thought "Oh, well that's easy." Now getting into it, I realize how complex a challenge this one really (...) (16 years ago, 8-Jan-09, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Can game - can you handle carpeting?

(...) I've got a small robot that can wander around looking for metallic objects. The tires that I have on hand which work best on the carpet I have at home are these: (URL) I'm also stuck on a strategy to figure out the heaviest can. One idea was (...)   Re: Can game - can you handle carpeting?

(...) Oh, darn. :) I guess I can share now that one of my ideas was to measure the resistance to forward motion of different cans (ie, friction) using an arrangement with a rotation sensor and the wheels on the robot. This would allow me to figure (...) (16 years ago, 6-Jan-09, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Can game - can you handle carpeting?

Just remembered that the flooring at the new location is carpet. Chris, Dave, do you remember that to be the case too? (16 years ago, 5-Jan-09, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Going to be at Disney World FLA

(...) Lucky duck!! :D Seriously Dave, have fun. We (my wife and I) were there last year, and I had a blast trying to put all those "rare" parts in two large P-A-B plastic containers. My wife thought that it was hysterical. :D (16 years ago, 28-Dec-08, to lugnet.org.ca.obb, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Going to be at Disney World FLA

And I'm told there's a LEGO store there. So I've known about this for, well, a half a year... And I never got around to asking if anyone wants anything from the PaB at the LEGO store in downtown Disney. So the night before I leave, I'm asking. But (...)
