Hear Ye!  Hear Ye!!!  The Holiday Season is upon us!!!

And not wanting to not have a competiton before the end of the 2006 year, at
dinner last night we came up with a very quick one---

(wait for it...)

Capacitor Races!!!!

Yes indeed!  Some Saturday between now and the end of 2006, we are going to have
a capacitor car competition!

The only rules are... well, very limited number of rules, really--you show up
the day of the competitoin and you build your capacitor car.

I know that around our small gorup of rtl'ers, there are at least 5 capacitors
floating around, so we'll have a few there.

So bring your parts 'n pieces to the event (location to be determined later, if
there's an interest) and have a good time.

We wanted this event to be somewhat 'unplanned' 'cause we wanted to see what
people could build 'the day of'.  That said, if you want to build cars ffor
testing before hand, that's quite alright.  However, any car entered into the
competitoin must be built 'on site' the day of the competition.

If you want to buy a capacitor before hand for testing, I happen to know a LEGO
store that's selling 'em (and they have a relly good looking assistant working
some Saturdays to boot...)

Oh, the actual competitoin--we'll be running for two 'winning scenarios'--

First to the finish line

Longest travelling car

And, hopefully, we'll ahve the ability to tweak and tweak and tweak...

The jury's still out on self powering-up the capacitor via motor generator or
just connecting the capacitor to a 9 volt train controller until the light turns
on--I don't care--either way ios good for me.

The 854 go-cart will be at the event for demonstration purposes :)

Fastest over a short distance, fastest over a long distance, longest distance (...) (18 years ago, 12-Nov-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) You guys really kill me. Seriously: Four years ago: (URL) years ago: (URL) years ago: (URL) I spend FOUR YEARS trying to get people to capacitor cars, and no one cares. Then all of a sudden it's like "Let's do capacitor cars!" This is proof (...) (18 years ago, 12-Nov-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Dave, where is this store? I'm out in Quebec City all next week and I'd really like to try this with one of my kids. I'd like at least two of the capacitors. Oh, I just got the joke. You're the assistant? Maybe I can reserve some at the store (...) (18 years ago, 12-Nov-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
