Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto19 Robotics Contest Rules and Date Finalized —Iain Hendry
Question about the size restriction: "Robots must fit between the edge and the 12" marker at the start of each match." That... isn't a volume, it's a depth, I guess. So is there any limit on height/width (plane perpendicular to the axis of the (...) (19 years ago, 11-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) No. Keep it simple. I'm sure Steve or some American will say "But I'm going to bring my super 6 foot toroidial monster" or whatever but...I think this gives a number of possibilities. Calum (19 years ago, 11-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto19 Robotics Contest Rules and Date Finalized —Iain Hendry
(...) Okay, so it just has to be 12" in one dimension then basically? Like fit between two parallel planes, 12" spacing? Looking forward to the contest! At my new work there is a guy who is interested in Mindstorms, I'm going to see if I can (...) (19 years ago, 19-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto19 Robotics Contest Rules and Date Finalized —Iain Hendry
(...) Since nobody responded, and I kinda need to know this (as I assume other builders do, too?): The only restriction on size, according to the current rules, is that: The robot/device must fit between two parallel planes, spaced 12" from one (...)      (...) Yeah, you could do that...he he he. Please do that. He he he he. The only real change I think we'll do (Chris and I are building the frame next weekend) is probably to put something to stop the thing from flipping 360 all around. Probably a (...)          Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto19 Robotics Contest Rules and Date Finalized —Chris Magno
(...) OK. im back. Calum, do you really think that is OK? OR is the fun of THIS game, to see how people solve for this. and without a "cubed" size limit, your thought is to see how NUTS people go?? (...) I guess we can also make the height of the (...)          Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto19 Robotics Contest Rules and Date Finalized —Iain Hendry
.... So nobody has any problem with the beam not having a counterbalance, and it cartwheeling wildly out of control at the begining of every game, with the slightest offset in mass between the two robots, and guilotining the lower-guy's robot (...)          Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto19 Robotics Contest Rules and Date Finalized —Chris Magno
(...) im about to START to make this game board. my FIRST step is to get the thing to balance (more or less) THEN Since the rules state the robot with its "side" up at the end of the game, is the winner, i see no reason why we CANT just put in a (...)          Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto19 Robotics Contest Rules and Date Finalized
(...) Guess countersinking means I need a couple more washers at the back... Playing around with my "Official RTL19 BoP Beam"(tm) (Now with Recessed Bolt Head!!!) I have discovered that it tends to loosen up as the beam oscillates. Will we be (...) (19 years ago, 7-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) ya know.... i never thought about a "test" beam. please bring it. As well, i wil try to remember to bring a LEVEL, a "combo" square, some screws, and a drill. and YES, my intention was to constantly mess with "friction" like i said, on game (...)         Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto19 Robotics Contest Rules and Date Finalized
Can someone bring a couple of 3/8" washers? I'll be bringing my BoP playfield as a just in case, but plan to leave it in the van unless needed. Mainly because it doesn't have a fancy base like the "official" one, and instead relies on a 2x6 clamped (...) (19 years ago, 10-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
