Okay, so it just has to be 12" in one dimension then basically?  Like fit
between two parallel planes, 12" spacing?

Since nobody responded, and I kinda need to know this (as I assume other
builders do, too?):

The only restriction on size, according to the current rules, is that:  The
robot/device must fit between two parallel planes, spaced 12" from one
another?

Doesn't that mean I could have a giant, massive pole sticking straight down,
touching the ground at one end, clamped to the beam at the other - right
from the start of the contest?  Or a huge, wide boom, or something like
that?

Yeah, you could do that...he he he.  Please do that.  He he he he.

OK. im back.

Calum, do you really think that is OK?

OR is the fun of THIS game, to see how people solve for this.  and
without a "cubed" size limit, your thought is to see how NUTS people go??

The only real change I think we'll do (Chris and I are building the frame next
weekend) is probably to put something to stop the thing from flipping 360 all
around.  Probably a stick at the base to keep the rotation to 90 degrees off
horizontal.

I guess we can also make the height of the beam so HIGH that if someone
did build a 8' broom stick, then that would be cool to see.

hummmmm

ok, im game.

.... So nobody has any problem with the beam not having a counterbalance, and it cartwheeling wildly out of control at the begining of every game, with the slightest offset in mass between the two robots, and guilotining the lower-guy's robot (...)
