whilst perusing my '88 Dodge Dakota manual, looking for engine light codes and
what they stand for, I read that the truck has a 'limp in' mode, meaning that if
there was an issue that the truck computer noticed, the computer would still
allow you to drive the truck to the repair facility.

Thanks for letting me do this, truck computer.

ANyway, I'm in 'limp in' mode right now--my laptop somehow magically lost access
to the hard drive between work and home on Dec 24, and since all my e-mail and
LUGNET authentication and such reside on that very laptop, I havent' been able
tro post much.  I had to call my ISP and had them reset my password for e-mail
so I cold get it set up on my home laptop PC (running Win98 and Outlook
97--that's going back!) but yesterday I got things funcitoning to the point
where I could actually post.

So I'm posting.

Here's the thing--

First, I'm so completely infuriated that I'm seriously going to buy as many
10152's as I possibly can.

But I'm leaving that alone now.

Second, I'm extremely happy due to personal reasons that I won't delve into at
this time, but the quote--"Can I help you sort your LEGO bricks?"  Better than
the other thing! :)  Yep, pretty much estatically happy at this time.

third--best Christmas haul since my early teens!  Mars Rover (technic), Harry
Potter set, and a little fireboat from world city from my sister.  It's about
time that my family got used to the idea that I'm not going to stop playing with
my LEGO collection.

fourth--Chris used to be cool.

fifth, how does Calum handle the variously differing people from rtlT without
completely coming unglued??  Must be that the watching of WW keeps him sane.

sixth--did I mention that i'm pretty happy right now?

Well, I have to go pay attention to somehting else right now...

(...) Yeah, most modern vehicles with an ECU of some sort have this limp in mode. For extra FYI, in some vehicles, attaching anything to the OBD connector forces the ECU into limp in. (...) So can you pull the drive and move it onto another machine? (...) (20 years ago, 28-Dec-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Me too! Got the Rover from my wife! (...) Does this mean there won't be room in the Dakota for me on the 14th? :) -Rob A. (20 years ago, 3-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
