!!! Gameboy controller for Lego —Rob Stehlik
For all the robot guys: (URL) HAVE to watch the demo videos. Note especially the "teach" and "haptic" videos. I can't believe the level of control they are getting without encoders. Its incredible. I'm not sure I want a gameboy on my robots, but the (...) (20 years ago, 26-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) That's REALLY slick. The movement of the "Wander" demo is really smooth too. The gameboy's not a bad idea either. It's certainly cheaper than a custom board. Calum (20 years ago, 26-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) (URL) That's REALLY slick. The movement of the "Wander" demo is really smooth too. Yes. Too bad we don't allow custom sensors ;-) (...) Hmmm... The whole system is not terribly cheap. You need the "Xport" which hooks up to the gameboy, and the (...) (20 years ago, 27-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) the other videos :) (...) Well, my classic argument is, what's a custom sensor? Is it an ultrasonic Polaroid sensor? Is it a DGPS receiver? A PC with machine vision and a pair of HDTV CCD cameras? (...) Well, the CPU/display/memory part of it (...) (20 years ago, 28-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) too. (...) ...and if anyone wants a Gameboy Advance cheap, I'll offer mine. I bought it in 2001, used it for about an hour, and decided it was very much a "Bad buy" (as I'm terrible at video games). I put it carefully back in the box, so it's (...)         RE: !!! Gameboy controller for Lego —Ralph Hempel
(...) This has been around for a while, and they are really doing a pretty cool bit of engineering here. It's not for the faint of heart in terms of complexity, but we ARE talking about a really deeply embedded system here. :-) I'm not so much (...)         Re: !!! Gameboy controller for Lego —Rob Antonishen
(...) The behaviour in the teach video (drive it around by hand and have it play back the motion) looks exactly what set 4095 Record and Play (URL) is supposed to do. Anyone know how it would compare, and whether the 4095 uses back-EMF or internal (...) (20 years ago, 26-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: !!! Gameboy controller for Lego —John Barnes
(...) I tore into one of these a while back. Nice PWM motor control and encoders on the wheels. The reason they don't work is that whoever coded up the PID loop to control the motors obviously had no idea what he/she was doing. I have not yet taken (...)
