I bought my Connect-4 game yesterday. Last night, my son wanted to play, so we played a few games. I'm really starting to 'understand' the game. I won almost all the games. A couple things came to mind about the rules. It was suggested that if a (...) (21 years ago, 1-Oct-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Oh, I dunno, I thought it was kind of pretty. Might be a good thing, actually, encouraging non gearhead use of gears in non dangerous... it would give an out to those people that are more dangerous than competent when it comes to (...) (21 years ago, 1-Oct-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Web controlled robot back up and ready!

(...) <snip> :) (...) ROSCO, if that was you, it was beautiful to watch--there's a stack, then very carefully a third goes on top, then the grabber slowly releases, then the 'bot backs up, and pulls over the stack! Sooooooo close! Having the 'bot in (...) (21 years ago, 1-Oct-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Picture from Bruce was Re: Be ashamed...

(...) LOL! I'm not at all worried about the gears breaking (as Lar++ suggested) but its just not 'right'. Its not mechanically 'nice'. Iain would understand. Gears have things called pitch circles that define the 'correct' spacing they should be set (...) (21 years ago, 30-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Picture from Bruce was Re: Be ashamed...

(...) You know Chris, when I was talking with Kate at one of our previous events, she said almost the same things about you. What a coincidence. For the record I have two cats, who do indeed love rice and wire. Bruce (21 years ago, 30-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Picture from Bruce was Re: Be ashamed...

(...) yes. :/ they are evil and vile. they chew the wire, and eat the rice from the rice game. I've told Bruce time and again that the solution to many of his problems is to get rid of the cats. I think he's up to 12 cats now. Chris (21 years ago, 30-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Be ashamed...

(...) John Gerlach built a rolling lift bridge that uses (40 tooth) gears as the axles, no less. It had a huge moment as it was several track sections long. He did it that way because of axle shearing... I would worry more about the axles breaking (...) (21 years ago, 30-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Be ashamed...

(...) Ya I don't see any problem with this. It's a very low friction solution. Now I wouldn't do this with 8 toothed gears, but with 40 it's quite reasonable. Derek (21 years ago, 30-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
