Re: Needed: A Game for rtlToronto12 and 13 ASAP

I agree wholeheartedly with Derek. The Library would be a good place for the vending machines. I probably wouldn't be able to build a vending machine by November. I am focussed right now on building my fire extinguishing robot. Rob "Derek Raycraft" (...) (22 years ago, 12-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Castors

I'm going to be in Montreal instead of Mel's. Go figure. But here's what I do: I put as much weight over the drive wheels as possible. This improves traction. I use a 2x2 round plate with the curved, smooth bottom, the one used on boats in Town. Or (...) (22 years ago, 12-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Is Kate coming?

(...) I could probably convince kate to come by. It would only be for a few hours because we will all be heading out to see DOC at the other meeting..... either way Mel's has a fine (grease less) chicken breast salad.... (fyi) -- Chris (22 years ago, 12-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Is Kate coming?

(...) Yeah, I know. I read that after I posted. Too bad. Regina was looking forward to a night at Swiss Chalet. After I described the greasiness of the food at Mel's, Regina refuses to go there. Can't blame her, really. Matthias Jetleb (22 years ago, 12-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Thanks y’all! But I'll be heading down to Fairview (404) on Friday. It’ll be on my way to the dinner @ Mel’s on the 13th. Here’s hoppin’ that a few will be left… Appreciatively, --==RïçhårÐ==-- Part’s trading @ Mel’s; I'm in need of about 4(four) (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Castors

(...) I always run into that problem too, Matt. Usually what I try to do is make the vertical axis on which the castor pivots as tall as possible, so the moment on the axle is reduced as much as possible (else it binds). I also try to keep the (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Needed: A Game for rtlToronto12 and 13 ASAP

I like the idea of having Vending Machines in March for two reasons. I think it will fit well with a library sponsored event were we can show off lots of different robotic designs. Its something they can promote easily. Its something that can run (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Calum, If I understand the goal of the vending machine idea correctly then I would think it would be ideally suited for the event sponsored by the Library. What I mean is if there is active participation for the audience by interacting with the (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Is Kate coming?

Chris: Regina wants to know if Kate is coming to the next dinner? If so, she'll come too. She's been dying for an excuse to go to Swiss Chalet but thinks the rest of us are probably too boring. It think it goes something like: "Anyone who would (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Castors

While continuing to sort, I've ocasionally been distracting myself with other tasks. One of them was to try to build different castor designs. I'm not having much luck, except for one possibly quite unique design I'll bring to the next meeting. What (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Needed: A Game for rtlToronto12 and 13 ASAP

It may be a good idea to start with rtl13. What event would work best in the library setting? Then, decide on rtl12. It doesn't seem like Trebuchets would be good IN the library. Are they interested/willing to hold the event outside? (is that even (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Needed: A Game for rtlToronto12 and 13 ASAP

Hi folks, I'm told my Chris that we need to get our acts together for rtlToronto12 and 13, which are November/December 2002 and March 2003 respectively. This is because 13 will be actively sponsored by the Toronto Public Library-advertised in their (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
