  Progress report # 1

end of day one: captains log; I now have a simple Cartesian robot, that can move in an X and Y direction. I spent more time on the "test" code than anything else. As of now, I have the Y axis hunting back and forth between 7 spots. I could not use (...) (21 years ago, 23-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: This sweatshirt

<snip> (...) (raises hand..) I was the guilty party responsible for trying to sell those sweatshirts to everybody (except Adrian Drake...he doesn't wear sweatshirts...or so he told me..lol). I was working that day on behalf of manager Dan. (I came (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Train Design Layout for Dave K

I seem to be singularly uninspired--I can't seem to come up with a good train layout for my basement. Here's a current Track Designer file of my basement layout as of today. (URL) anyone feels like throwing ideas around for a layout, it would be (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

  Re: I hate lawyers!!!

So now all three companies involved--the telco, the barrister and the collections agency, all assure me that this matter is being looked into and that I do not have to go to court and such. I keep on mentioning to them, however, that I'd like that (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: This sweatshirt

(...) I make bad assumptions at times--if the 9v adapter works for my current 1.0 RCX, and the 9v adapter works for my LEGO 9v DC motors, I assumed that the adapter was 9v DC. As such, I should just be able to use that 9v adapter for my 1.5 and 2.0. (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: This sweatshirt

(...) I think Dave now takes the cake for "Most Confused About Electricity" from Shane, creator of Electron-B-Gone. At most you're out $50-130 for a used or new RCX. Calum (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: This sweatshirt

(...) <snip> (...) I was thinking Mathias! But haven't seen him in such a long time :( Anyway, it's an attractive paperweight... Dave K -who will adamantly not put milk into his RCX, recalling the time when some sister of his poured coke into his (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: This sweatshirt

(...) Dave, Calum is correct, if you used the LEGO train adapter to send "stuff:" to the battery terminals, then YES, you did PUNCH your RCX. now, before Calum pipes up and suggests you put MILK in your RCX, please do bring it to the dinner, I'm (...)   Re: This sweatshirt

(...) Well this I did not consider 'cause I use the train wall-wart to plug in my old 1.0's. As far as I knew the train adapter is 9v DC 'cause that's what the train motors are. Then again, my limited electronic knowhow factors in here. Dave K -who (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: This sweatshirt

(...) No, it's not a new car club of Honda owners. That's another story altogether. At BrickFest 2002, there was a deal where if you bought $50 of stuff at the Lego store at Potomac Mills or whatever it's called, you could get a sweatshirt for $3. (...)   Re: This sweatshirt

(...) a) isn't the Train 9V transformer putting out 9-11V AC? b) does the 2.0 RCX have the rectifier to turn AC into DC? Calum (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: This sweatshirt

(...) <snip> (...) I'm not a whiz where electronics are concerned, but I can put batteries in the RCX and test voltages across the breadboard... No, it's pretty much dead. I took the train wall wart, unsoldered the the adapter off a train (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: This sweatshirt

(...) no dave, you are not alone. Calum has a new set of friends... ones that buy new cars... its the "new car club" clearly only Derek, and Calum can join. Chris "It is a very clever strategy IMHO, and I applaud Chris for thinking of it." K.C. in (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: This sweatshirt

(...) Which sweatshirt is that? $3--was I there? Dave K -who seems to be the 'odd man out' most of the time... (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  This sweatshirt

Is it me or this burgundy sweatshirt we all got for $3 is the warmest sweatshirt I own? What a great sweatshirt. Calum (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Well, I've gone and dunnit

(...) I think that there might be a fuse that you blew. I'd ask Philo over in robotics about it. It could very well be fixable. Kevin (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Happy camper...

Firefly on DVD on my doorstep this morning. 675 minutes of viewing pleasure... Dave K (21 years ago, 21-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Well, I've gone and dunnit

(...) WHAT!!??!!! explain!!! Chris (21 years ago, 20-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Well, I've gone and dunnit

I've killed one three hundred dollar investment... Yep, tried to AC the RCX and now it don't turn on, even with batteries... now I have a yellw paperweight... *snif* Eh, I've wasted three hundred dollars before... Dave K (21 years ago, 20-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Trading Places is doing a Lego room...

(...) Nice people but I don't think I'd invite 'em into my house... Though the carpenter does a great job... I liked the room better before they started... but I have no fashion sense. :) Dave K (21 years ago, 20-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
