  Re: 486-33 8Mb

(...) I don't think 6.1 would install without 32 MB of ram -- that's when they went to the python-based installer. And 8.0 and 9 require at least double that again. :) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: announcing TrackDraw (BrickFest preview)

(...) In support of the LAST point (below), which strikes me as the most important point (why do hobby stuff it it's not FUN???)... I would suggest that all platform changes that others do be done using the equivalent of #IFDEF so that the .net (...) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: announcing TrackDraw (BrickFest preview)

(...) ... This is very interesting, but I want to set expectations clearly: - I will not spend any time porting TrackDraw to another platform. - I will release sources with the executable so that others may do so. - I will not integrate changes made (...)   Re: 486-33 8Mb

(...) I suspect Derek isn't going to double the ram. The alternative is tossing the box which he seems inclined to do. (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Yes, since I started one for you: (URL) .NET to Linux (?)> The people at (URL) Ars Technica> are always very knowledgable. And if they don't know something, they do know where you can go to find answers. (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.off-topic.geek, FTX)

  Re: 486-33 8Mb

(...) Depending on the application. A Firewall/NAT doesn't need much of anything, especially if it's doing the logging to a network syslog server. 8M should be plenty for that :) Of course, my 486 is running RH6.0, because the newer versions didn't (...)   Re: announcing TrackDraw (BrickFest preview)

(...) ... (...) ... I replied directly to Amaury about helping, which I appreciate. But I'm curious: does anyone know of a online discussion on the challenges of porting a substantial application from Windows .NET to Linux? To keep this mildly on (...) (...) I did some digging, and mono indeed supports System.Drawing, with the help of the cairo library ( (URL) ) being a linux developer, I volunteer to test your application and send patches whenever they'll be needed.   Re: 486-33 8Mb

I have heard of people running linux on tired iron like this (there's even a linux on a floppy distribution, I hear, that's already set up to do this) and using the box as a firewall/dhcp server between the outside world and the rest of your (...)   Free DVD screen capture utility?

I'm looking for a good (free) DVD screen capture utility for Windows. I recall having success using Print Screen before, but this time around the window is turning up blank when I paste into Photoshop. I'm using an older verison of WinDVD that would (...)   Re: New Dice (4x4x4 cube)

(...) Uhhhh... no, I didn't know that. Being very, very poor (having been unemployed as often as employed the past few years), I have not been able to buy any of the larger sets for a painful number of years, now... :( Thanks for the info, though.   Re: Matrix Weapon Tech

(...) Hmm. Now that's an interesting theory. I see support in the Animatrix short Beyond: agents have to come in to fix the glitch in the "haunted house." Sysadmins would just fix it. OTOH, in the first movie, when Neo experiences deja vu with the (...) (21 years ago, 19-Aug-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Matrix Weapon Tech

  Die, spam, die

The latest form of cockroach: the other day I used Google to find an etymology. Google took me to a page in some online dictionary.   Re: Black Holes
