Re: Farscape Cancelled-Geeks Up In Arms!

Hey I'm right here with ya (or your wife). I have no cable (or reception for that matter) and hate TV but I love Farscape and try to keep up with it via downloads. While I think this is terrible that they are canceling it I'm really not surprised at (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Farscape Cancelled-Geeks Up In Arms!

All these geeks at LUGNET, and no one has posted about this yet? Amazing. The news is that SciFi Channel has cancelled Farscape, as announced in a chat with series staff. If you are a fan of the show (like my wife...I find it pretty incomprehensible (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Need help with Windows 98/HD formatting

(...) Before your question can be properly answered, here are a few questions first... What is your system hard drive configuration (in particular hard drive partitions)? Do you want to keep any data on the O/S partition? Do you have a backup medium (...) (22 years ago, 9-Sep-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Need help with Windows 98/HD formatting

I'm hoping someone can help me. What is the easiet way to reformat my hard drive and re-install Windows? If I do that, would my secondary hard drive be affected? Any help would be nice. Thanks. (22 years ago, 9-Sep-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Engineering's not as simple as you thought.

(...) Er, No wonder you lot make fun of the kiwis... :-) Memo to self, don't fly ANZ for a while. (22 years ago, 5-Sep-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Engineering's not as simple as you thought.

Andrew Miller, Air NZ's acting chief executive advises that "Engineering's a very technical area." For the full story, see: (URL) (22 years ago, 5-Sep-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: How to maximize 90-piece bags?

(...) Ah, yes -- thank you very much Frank! So now...assuming all the "accesories" besides the 1x1's are purchased together, and the hypothetical 1x1 plate pack is purchased with shipping costs, and there are no other variables I left out, we should (...)   Re: How to maximize 90-piece bags?

(...) Some quibbles with your math: - Your math assumes no shipping cost for the hypothetical 1x1 plate packs - If you factor shipping into the cost, you should assume all individual items are purchased at once - I wonder how many brick separators (...)   Re: How to maximize 90-piece bags?

(...) Wow, I screwed up a little on typos. The Mosaic comes to 34.94, not 39.94. Also, the brick separator is 4.64 total, I forgot to include that. Amazingly, my math was still correct! (22 years ago, 1-Sep-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: How to maximize 90-piece bags?

(...) Actually, subtract ($9.99 + $2.95 shipping = $12.94) the X-large baseplate, and (7.99 + $2.95 shipping = $10.94) the 100 pack of black slopes and a ($1.69 + $2.95 shipping) brick separator from the ($29.99 + $4.95 shipping = $39.94) Mosaic (...)   Re: Keyboard trouble!

(...) Indeed. At the office, just replace it. My own keyboard? I'll toss it in the dishwasher first, and let it dry two days or so. Usually works, and when it doesn't, well, I needed a new keyboard anyhow. -JDF (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: I received a virus email today...

Re: I received a virus email today...

(...) I get copies of Klez regularly, not from LEGO people. They're sent in emails with snippets of HTML code as the subject. For example, a subject 'cellpadding' or 'marginheight.'   Re: Keyboard trouble!

(...) Two reasons: 1: if the spilled substance gets down to the circuit sheet, it's toast. Easiest way to tell this is if some keys do not work. 2: Cleaning a keyboard with stuck keys takes too long. An hour of my billable time is worth more than a (...) (22 years ago, 25-Aug-02, to lugnet.people, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Globalization, H1-B Visas, Unemployment, ITAA Job Growth Estimates, Etc.

Hey Y'all: I gather that many people here work in the "tech" industry one way or another. Given that, I wondered if any of you have opinions about the sorts of things one finds at sites like "f-----company" or "netslaves." How many people think that (...)
