I also received a copy of the virus from Steve Barile.  I have had email
contact with him and he knows he is infected.

I'm getting rather annoyed myself at the volume of W32.Klez viruses I am
getting.  I have a remove utility and am aware of the different tricks it
plays (like masquerading as a file to make you immune to it).  Still, the
level of meaningless emails with random strings bugs me.  I delete anything
suspicious.  Oh well.

Hello,
I've been recieving several large emails (117K to 125K) at an account I use
for just Lego communications. Most appear to be from people I've emailed about
Lego. My research shows a recent virus worm is gaining ground. Here's the info
on McAffee:
http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99455
From that info it appears the virus uses current addresses & possibly current
message titles on the host machine to confuse the recipients of the emails.

I'm curious if others have seen this, too.

I wasn't getting that one, but I have received three notes from Steven Barile
infected with W32.SirCam which you can read about at:

http://www.cert.org/advisories/CA-2001-22.html
http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99141

I've copied this note to .trains and .trains.org.scltc because those are the
only groups posted to by Mr. Barile and I wanted him to be made aware that he
was infected ASAP.  I sent him email this morning.

I too, am curious to see if others are getting this.

later,

Chris

(...) What bugs me the most is that I know that it's sending out forged e-mails apparently from my e-mail address, and there's not a thing I can do about it. (22 years ago, 26-May-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
