(...) Dunno'...but you'll likely have better luck in the proper group (lugnet.off-topic.geek)...I'll toss this over there for you...Tim Courtney uses it, and he might have some info for you. Matt (23 years ago, 1-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Question of the week ...

As it happens it seems that the question was "can you generate unique sequential numbers that have a check digit that fit the "mod 10" verification algorithm used for credit cards?" Looks like our sister company's techies are yet again passing the (...) (23 years ago, 29-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Question of the week ...

As a techie I get some great questions each week from staff here and from ex-colleagues, but today's question from a marketing manager was such a blinder that I'd thought I'd post it here for your enjoyment. Please don't send me answers, I don't (...) (23 years ago, 29-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) EverCrack, as I understand some call it? I hear that game is tres addictive. One addiction at a time for me, thanks. (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: WAY off topic

(...) At certain times in my life I have been an avid Trekkie (450 books, 50+ posters, etc...), watched anime (with subtitles) and tried my hand at writing SF. Now, tho, it's just LEGO and on-line RPG's (EQ!!!!) Of course, my character in EQ is (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  WAY off topic

I ran across this geekspace diagram (URL) (from Penny Arcade) and in sending it to a friend, said "the fact that LEGO isn't on there means LEGO is not geeky" followed by a smiley. He of course demurred and sent THIS link: (URL) is old but it's just (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Cute little DIY computer

(...) I think Pandora is ugly (Shuttle SV24 is more R2D2 cute) and I'd rather make my own case first (heh heh...) Anyway, good luck finding it in the USA. You can order the SV24 from outpost.com with or without a CPU. (see chipmerchant.com for that, (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Cute little DIY computer

(...) Did you see the other machine at that site, the "Pandora's box"??? What did you think of IT? I'm in the market for a new desktop at the mo too so this was interesting, thanks for the ref! (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Cute little DIY computer

I'm buying a Shuttle SV24 for LDRAW and Linux. It's a toaster-sized PC you can put together for under $600: (URL) low hassle, lots of ports for exotic input/output devices, and it's small enough to hide. Disadvantages: bad for games, not (...) (23 years ago, 27-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: 3D stereograms? programs?

(...) Not for Windows (I've got several fun, free ones for Mac 8?P )... Here's two that I found after a Google: ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi...rds200.zip (URL) one found on Tucows: (URL) fun! Matt (23 years ago, 27-Jan-02, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.publish, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  3D stereograms? programs?

Hey y'all, Does anyone know of any cheap (read: free :-) stereogram generators? Dots or red/blue will do... Has anyone used L3P's stereogram-generator feature? Got any stereograms to show off? Cheers, - jsproat (23 years ago, 27-Jan-02, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.publish, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Slashdot (was:Bad News for Brickbay!?)

(...) There's so many categories to choose from, it's hard to know which one is right. (...) Ah, of course. I guess I should have misspelled every 3rd word and made it sound like incoherent clueless rambling. (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Slashdot (was:Bad News for Brickbay!?)

(...) Yah, I'm guessing that most of the "editors" don't read what you're submitting, they just reject it. That's probably why it takes tons of submissions to get a story up, you have to get enough in that it slips past the rejectors. (23 years ago, 25-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Slashdot (was:Bad News for Brickbay!?)

I think it depends more on how the title is phrased, which category is chosen and how it is written. I have had success by writing submissions in that certain 'slashdot style'. KL (...) (23 years ago, 25-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Tron Easter Egg

(...) Well, I didn't already own it. I don't recommend buying the 20th ann. edition if you already own it on DVD. There's only a couple deleted scenes, and the "making of" documentary is a big yawn. Excellent quality transfer from film, however. (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Tron Easter Egg

(...) I still am. I'm not sure whether to say, "oooh! cool!" or say, "dangit, I already _bought_ Tron on DVD once already!" -JDF (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
