  Re: DPI help

(...) All depends on your viewing distance... If it's a poster to hang on the wall, intended to be viewed at 5 feet away or more, you can easily get away with 150x150 dpi, and often 75x75 dpi. Also depends on how quick/abrupt your color changes are, (...) (23 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Problems with reaching www.ldraw.org

Tim, I think it would be a Good Thing to make this a news item on the ldraw.org homepage. And then park it permanently on ldraw.org somewhere (like in an ldraw.org FAQ). It won't help people at the time they're having the problem, but they'll be (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Problems with reaching www.ldraw.org

Several people have in the last year reported problems with getting access to www.ldraw.org. The reason for this problem appears to be that the default "time-to-live" (TTL) for TCP packets is too low. I have now recieved confirmation that this is (...) (...) +AM2 +J0.5 +R3 Method one is called supersampling in the Doc's but is only half a supersample. Method 2 is much better as cells are recursivly sampled. You can change the threshold too but 0.3(default) is good. Check your Docs for more info. (...) (23 years ago, 28-Apr-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: DPI help

(...) Default is off or Old non-adaptive. Most 3+ and megapov ports have the Adaptive(aka supersampling) option and it's worth the slight time hit. Best DaveG (23 years ago, 28-Apr-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Render at 1/2 the target DPI as if going to 150 LPI Film. 9000x3000 and use Supersampling to smooth out any blends and over hard edges. Best DaveG (23 years ago, 28-Apr-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  DPI help

[FUT lugnet.off-topic.geek] I'm going to be printing a rendering of my current architecture on a 24" plotter, so I need to how large I should render the image. The maximum color resolution of the plotter is 300x300 dpi. However, IIRC, since printers (...) (23 years ago, 27-Apr-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

  Should I worry?

I received notification today that my PC at work will be upgraded with IE 5.5 tonight. Are there any landmines I should be aware of? I'm currently running 5.0. Dave! (23 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
